I'm a newbie and just ordered a T-maxx and will recieve it monday. After doing extensive research, I was advised to get a T-maxx because its an excellent RTR, excellent parts availability, very fast out of box, and its one of the top trucks in the hobby. However after reading some different forums, alot of folks recommended the savage over the T-maxx. I'm just wondering if I should have gotten a savage instead of a t-maxx. I just want to knwo what all you t-maxx owners think of it and do you regret getting the t-maxx?

I personally love my T-maxx. Even when it was stock it was a blast! One of the first upgrades you will need is a new cooling head. I would reccomend the ACNCM head, because it is one of the best. You can get one of those at www.acncm.com

There are so many upgrades available for that thing it is unbelievable.

Here is my T-maxx after a year! I cought the bug... i went crazy with upgrades.

If u are want to know more about the maxx vs. the savage do a search on this site.It has been done many times before.
I love my maxx fast fun and with the thousands of upgrades u can't go wrong.

I have both a Maxx and a Savage. I have put crazy amounts of money in my maxx, now I can pretty much beat the crap out of it and it just keeps going. The Savage on the other hand will take the same beating right out of the box, especially now that the four spider mod is done as well as the mp servo type mod. I still enjoy running my maxx, but I do prefer my Savage SS over it. Either way you will still have a blast with it. Don't worry about what others think, as long as you are having fun thats all that matters.

Exactly. Even if your maxx is stock it can still be a blast to drive, its just the nature of the beast!

I have a Maxx and have only ran it a couple times but this thing is awesome and like everyone said there are about a million upgrades for it and before you know it you want all of them lol I have already put tons of upgrades on mine and I have only ran it a couple times lol I'm sure you will be happy with it and if you have any problems Traxxas has a very helpful site or there are many many people here who are more than happy to help you out I have had learned alot of usefull info here good luck and have fun!!

I think you'll be very happy with a T-Maxx. I've had mine a year now and no regrets on buying it.

No, I dont really like mine, I never ran it, Its for sale. I just like buggys and onroads.

I'm a Savage owner and love my ride. My advice to you is just go out and enjoy your ride and who cares what people think of your ride. I know I could care less. It's like the argument between Ford and Chevy. Which is better? Everyone has their opinion. The point I'm trying to make is that you bought an R/C and I would like to welcome you to this addiction. Good luck with your new ride.

Scott.

It's a nitro, it's remote control. It can jump, climb, flip and handle asphalt just as well.

You can buy anything you want for it, from screw sets and wheel nuts to brand new motors, and metal transmission gears.

In my opinion, nitro's are fun no matter what they are. The T-maxx needs a little More TLC than other nitro's but it is still fun to drive, and is very adept off road. I enjoyed my maxx a ton, but the savage requires less day to day to keep maintained

My SERIOUS advice for you.
Break in your engine PROPERLY. If you don't know have some one show you hands on.
Never EVER run it without fresh batteries in it.
Learn all you can about engine tuning, and tweaking before you run it.
Always use fresh out of the can Fuel.
Make sure your glow ignitor is very well charged..
Always come here 1st if you have a question

Those few things will save you a ton of time and money..ENJOY.. there' no going back no. Once it shows up you are going to be hooked .

True but we all know Chevy is better than Ford lol :jk: Your right Scott all that matters is that you enjoy it there is always going to be somthing better or worst than your Ride just build yours to be a beast that you can say its tuff because I made it that way :) anyway you will have a blast with your new T-Maxx they can defiently do much more than your real truck can do. I have jumped my Chevy 4x4 but dont think it could jump as high as my T-Maxx and make it out of it in one piece hehe

Ha Dodge beats them both. I agree scott U have the right Idea. When I have people come up to me and say stuff like a savage or LST is better I say that is your opinion and u are intitled to it. Then I say It doesn't matter what it is just how u race it.

Take it from the guys in this thread, there's really no wrong choice. You have to start somewhere and alot of guys here have a TMaxx. That should tell you it's a good ride. Also, you can get parts everywhere for the TMaxx.
" Now go out and break something"

 Scott.

Let's put it this way. If there was no Tmaxx there would be no savage. The Tmaxx is the father of Nitro Monster trucks. It single handedly put the RC hobby back on track. (IMO) Every RC manufacture owes Traxxas thanks. With that said.... both are great MT's with tons of hop ups.... you will probably wind up owning both so don’t worry about it.... enjoy the truck.... I guarantee you will...

sLY

I'm happy with my Maxx. But I needed to hop-up quite a few parts just to handle the abuse I put it through. Everything you were told about it is correct. And just like Msly said, It is the stepping stone to all the MT's that are out there.

ye maxx is still the daddy, it comes out the box WITH reverse and electric start, best truck to learn on and can still hack it with bigger trucks, the savage and maxx are still at the top of the pile i reckon, all the rest just try and imitate and haven't pulled it off yet, as they've all said, just run it in, STICK A FAIL SAFE IN, and enjoy

I don't think it matters anymore you already bought it!!!
my personal opinion, i like the tmaxx when i could get it going, its a pain to tune, its always dying, overheating not starting it brakes easy, etc etc. but this is my opinion. I still have it but i sold the motor, I'm gonna try some other motor in it later on, mean while i got a savage and i'm loving it, i haven't even change the glow plug and still starts right up and no problems at all.
sorry tmaxx guys but i really had it with traxxas, and i know it wasn't just me, i kept seraching and searching to find an answer to my problem and i found out that it wasn't just me, there is tons of people on my same situation, I can't believe a company can charge that much money for something that crapy!!!
