I didn't have a air filter that fit my novarossi. So I went to the LHS and they didn't have any on-road air filters that fit in stock so I bought a t-maxx airfilter until I can get a motorsaver one.

My question is this. When I run the car the motor seems to die at about 1/3 throttle. I'm pretty sure it's leaning out. Now, how restrictive are stock t-maxx airfilters?

Shouldnt matter worth a damn, your settings may need adjustments, but the air filter brand\size dosnt matter really, unless you can't fit it on the carb....

Well the reason why I ask is I know some filters like the savage filter are super restrictive.

The MotorSaver air filter for the .15 engine is great for air flow. If you are placing a smaller engine sized air filter on your current engine (ie a filter for a .15 on a .21 engine) then you will see restricted air flow. But for the most part, MotorSavers actually provide more air flow than a stock air filter.

As Skipper mentioned, you may need to retune. The airfilter may be providing more air flow than the engine is tuned for. My recommendation (especially since you feel that it is too lean) is to take it back to factory presets and retune from there....or just richen up the settings a bit, and see how it goes.

Actually I was totally wrong....i feel like an idiot. I dropped my savage motorsaver on the car then it did the same thing. So obviously it wasn't the filter. Then I started leaning the HSN since that was still factory, and voila, it didn't quit and is a screamer even at half throttle!

Glad to hear you solved the problem.

As for feeling like an idiot, all I have to say is it took you a while, but you finally came around to our way of thinking...finally. :D

Thing that made me think it was lean was there was plenty of smoke on the initial start then as the RPM's went up, there was almost no smoke, from what I could see...ho hum, sometimes you feel like an idiot...it happens to the best of us
