i just bought the losi 3.4 for my tmaxx.can you tell me if there was any problems you ran into making it work.what motor mount did you use and were you able to use the 3.3 flywheel and clutch?thanks

Problems: Yes, the crankshaft is to long for the tmaxx. I had to use dremel to trim it down, then instead of using the e-clips like on the Traxxas 3.3 engine I put a small screw with small washers in the end of the crankshaft to hold everything together. Also I kept the rotary start on the back of the engine. To make this work you will need to cut away some of the shock tower cross bracing but this was not a big deal. I actually put on a rear wing and the wing bracket helped to reinforce this.

I was able to use the stock flywheel and I used an integy 3 pc. clutch made for a Traxxas 3.3 motor. This was the first engine I completely disassembled so I watched some youtube video's to help guide me through some of this. The 3 pc clucth was a pain but mainly because of the little springs.

I used the 3.3 motor mount. It was a tight fit but I was able to make it work.

Here is a link to some pictures that may help.

What header did you end up using?

I bought a slightly used 3.4 that was used in a Losi Ten-T I believe. I used the header and exhaust that came with it. Since This header and exhaust are suppose to exit the left side of the vehicle I had to turn it so the header almost went out and up. I was able to turn it in a way that it missed the shock screws.
I just put a bunch of springs around the engine to hold the header in place.

Do you use the DX3C radio? I bought a 3S and the range with it was awful. Couldn't get more than 75 feet before the FS would kick in. I even tried wiring in a 5th cell to get the volts to 6 and it didn't really help at all. It's in a drawer now mocking me...

I was looking at the 3C. More model memory than the old DX3.0 that I have.

the pics are a little small and hard to see but thanks for the info and tips.my motor didn't get here yet but i just wanna be prepared when it does.i have the ths pipe on my max now with the spring held header do you know if that will work with the 3.4?

See if the pictures below are any better. I no longer have the truck so I can't take anymore pictures. Sorry.

I really don't know if that ths pipe and header will work. It may. I do not have any experience with it.

Yes I did use the DX3C radio. It was great. I never had any problems with the range.
