All the above suggestions might work in a pinch, but I can almost certainly guarantee that dust will make it through the filter.

LHS rip you off when selling air-filter oil, it's the same stuff you can get at a fraction of the price in any motorcycle shop. I use Bellray filter oil. It needs to be sticky and when rubbed between your fingers it should be stringy a little like melted cheese.
 
Well, you live in Colorado. Is there snow on the ground? If so, then dust won't be your enemy. Water will. Use a light motor oil on your filter and you should be fine at repelling water, but make sure to get some proper filter oil before the snow is gone.
