I am new to this hobby so have some patience with me. I have my Maxx tuned to a great idle and good top speed. I did a few runs to catch the best temperature range. Went from 160-190 degrees and finally got to 253 degrees. I was trying to tune it by temperature to around 260 range by adjusting the HSN.

I leaned it out too much and threw off all the other needles. Now when I start her up she just takes off on her own at a good 20 mph and maintains that speed. The idle needle won't tighten to a point where I cannot tighten it anymore.

I wanted to use up the rest of the tank and when I brought her back in she was smoking with a temp of around 320 degrees.

Any ideas what went wrong or where I should begin?

You want to turn your idle screw counter clockwise to turn down the idle.. Take the air filter off and look in your carb.. You want the slide to leave an opening the thikness off a credit card when you apply the brake..

Sounds like you have your idle screw set way too high.. Fix that and try to retune.. Set you needles back to factory settings...
Try hsn at about 4-4 1/2 turns out and your lsn flush with the inner housing..
