Hi Folks,

I am struggeling to find the right insiderknowledge on the T-Maxx 2.5's :surrender .
As some know, I'm looking for a used nitrotruck that can take some abuse and will teach me everything I will have to know for racing/ jumping and dirtkicking. The market seems flooded with T-Maxx's and I'd like to know your opinions/ experiences, good or bad?

Thanks!:dumb:

The Tmaxx's have been prone to breakage and known for emptying peoples pocket fast and consistently. They do not acept a big block without a conversion and the drive train will need to be upgraded.

That is just a brief overview. I taught my son on that and then moved to a Savage later..

Jon2 hit the nail on the head. If your looking for used, the I would guess your looking for cheap. The t-maxx is good if you have $ to make it durable. If you have a lot of extra coin and you really like fixing things, then the t-maxx is just for you.

I'd be on the hunt for something else though. A revo, savage, MGT, LST2. In that order.

From what I've read, the MGT and LST2 are some pretty durable rigs. Both start life with a true big block engine.

The revo and savage I own. Both are good for what they were intended. The revo can be a capable basher with a little extra $ and can be more fun with a better engine.

I've had 2 t-maxx's. About two weeks of owning a savage was enough for me to sell both t-maxx's with a smile on my face at a total loss of $.

i have a a tmaxx2.5 for about a year and they break alot and i dont recopmend starting on it i would start on a stampede or soomthing like that

I loved my T-Maxx but I won't disagree with what has been said either. You can make them fairly durable with RPM parts (stay away from the aluminum after market stuff) but you will still be wrenching a good bit. I just bought my second MGT and I can tell you from experience owning both, the MGT will be hands down the tougher rig and in the long run you will be much happier. They are superior in every way. Stronger, faster, easier to work on, look better. And you can find one for around the same price rtr or maybe in need of a part or two, but still worth it. I can actually probably find you one for $250 or less if interested.

Actually, here is a post from another site in a thread I had when I was looking for a MGT. It was just posted yesterday or this morning so it is still good.

Copied and pasted:
