RC Driving Style
Hay all,
I am looking at these engines for my modified Max.
Has any one run a Diablo .28, I like the top end. Dont know anything about it.
I am also looking at the Wasp .28, and the Hpi .28. Any one have a preferance? I like the hpi, but my racing budy has 6 Savages (BRICKS with a lot of power) so i dont think i would ever hear the end of that one. allthough on race day last Saturday There where 8 trucks in the main 3 modified bricks that usally dominate the race, Lost to my Tmax with a Ofna Picco .21 :) A good day racing.
 
Do you already have a big block?? If you dont, then check out the sirio and RB .23's. Also check out the collari .30/.32 if you want to go big block.

Is it a 21 chassis maxx that can handle a true big block or are you currently running a mid-block 21?

I know this may seam obvious, but I believe OFNA Picco makes a mid-block 21, so I'm not sure what your running...

But he's asking about the Diablo .28, which I think is a normal big block. Which won't fit without a conversion. I know the HPI 28 is a normal big block and I believe the Wasp is as well. Although, Orion makes a mid-block 2something as well...

I am running a conversion kit that workes with eather size engine from 2 cool rc. Currently it is the drop in tmax small block. I also have the Hybred bulkheads with the built in difs. Rock solid. I hear a lot of complaints with the tranny giving out, I havent had any problems yet. Just lucky i guess. that will come with the bigger engine i guess.
I race in Venice. The county just approved a perminate on road thrack. Ya i race on road with a monster truck. It's a start. Right now we are racing on 2 tennise courts with the countys permision, and every race gets bigger and better. After this track is finished we will go for a dirt one.
 
I'd like to meet whoever calls a 1/10th .21/.23 a "mid block". Makes no sense. Small blocks - for 1/10th. Big blocks - for 1/8th. Simple as that. I dont know of a 1/9th sized rc out there. Hell, Orion doesn't call it a "mid block", same goes for RB and their .23, they call it a small block, lol same goes for Trinity.

I call it a mid block because they are bigger than a small block but smaller than a big block. There is no scale size here, it is the engine size. I have a big block in my rc10gt, does that make it a 1/8th scale?

Technically, big/small block isn't relative to the size of the crank case or even the size of the engine. It's relative to the bore/stroke ratio of the piston/throw of crankshaft. If the diameter of the bore is at least as big as the length of the stroke, it's a big block.

The trx 2.5 is a big block as the stroke/bore is the same...

Obviously its the engine size.. duh. For dropping in a BB into a 1/10th that originally had a sb.. duh= BB conversion!

If you look into car engines or any other style... they dont call it a BB or SB pending on its borexstroke... you can't just drop a bb into an originally SB vehicle w/o getting different engine mounts first... this goes for REAL cars AND rc.

If the engine mounts are the same as a .12... SB. If the engine mounts bolt up like a .21, BB. Now, you can have a .15 with the mounts of a BB, its still a BIG BLOCK! Some of the past engine companies had that to sell, I think CEN still does.

this is the way you define them....how the Funk are you saying it is defined
 
Every company i have seen calls their engines SB or BB based on the crankcase. We all know how the mounts are different...

No matter what, you could use a BB crankcase, have a piston/sleeve of a .12. It would still be a big block.... it would only fit 1/8 vehicles or rc vehicles with BB conversion kits. It could have an extremely short throw on the engine, but it would still be a BB.

This is the only forum that calls a engine a "mid block", and honestly its funny as hell.
 
most everyone I know w/ a SB sized BB engien calls em that...not just from this forum......
 
I have never heard of it except for here. I posted it up on other forums and they were laughing their asses off.

they wouldnt call it a BIG BLOCK or SMALL BLOCK if their engine mounts were the same size. How big block got their name was that the crankcase is obviously bigger, and so are the mounts. Same goes for buying a crate engine for real cars. They have BB sized small blocks, but they are still small blocks because of the engine mounting patterns.
 
i am not sure why this has turned into a basically a flame thing ,but i myself have seen nitro mills being called (medium blocks) they are bigblock internals in a small block case
techically they are conciderd small blocks simply because they mount on the same mount's as a .12 thru .18 nut they are called medium block mills

i am looking for 1 to show as an example
just gimme time to research it
