whats the best setting for just bashing around hard at front soft in the back? any help with this would be good

The front end will push in corners (understeer) with this setup. Reverse this and the back end will drift instead.

so which should be soft and which should be hard. back or front. (for bashing )

I would make them all the same. A little on the stiff side, without droop screws so you get the max. travel you can. The extra travel, and spacers in the springs will help with a rougher terrain generaly associated with bashing, and it isn't as if you care about consistant high speed cornering, since you probably aren't on a track. This set up will also help the landing of big air.

if you set your sus so it gets full drop you will find it will want to kick the backside up in the air and drop the nose generally you want the arms so the car sits slightly lower than the arms being flat if you set up to hard your wheels will never be on the ground on rough terain, general rule is the bumbier the ground the softer the sus but theres a hell of a lot more to it than that, here a set up page you can have a read of if you got a spare 8 hrs http://users.pandora.be/elvo/
