i want a car i can jump and mud and not a fortune. is this truck going to do its job or is it better to just save and buy a normal scale

As long as you aren't running in high grass it ought to do fine. I prefer the 1/16 Revo VXL because of it's lower center of gravity and being less prone to rolling. Basically though, they are the same truck.

I wanted something I could mud and like the higher up chassis. I know they are pretty muck the same but is one better than another, what are the pros and cons of each

I have a 1/10 revo with a bb nitro, I have a Merv on its way to my house ATM. I think the Merv will be awesome fun and being electric I have a feeling I'll use it more than the BB. But there are pretty similar and they scaled them down really well. Only thing is u have to scale down the terrain it can handle too.

The mini summit doesn't have the locking diffs, like its larger counterpart.

Don't waste your time with the mini summit. As freek stated, you can't remotely lock or unlock the diffs. If you want something for mudding, you would be better off with the full size summit.
