Day 1....
Anyway bashin in my front yard, (which is getting a nice track where i run, wife not happy
) and the there's this little grinding noise comin from the car. So i stop, have a look and find that the centre diff needs some TLC.
Keeping in mind that i have really only gotten this car recently, second hand.
Anyhoo, thinkin its only an hours work i start ripping it out, only to clean, inspect and reinstall to find i still have the same problem
So sitting there thinkin... then relise that there is more than one diff in the car :whhooo:
So i'm holding the front wheels and dragging the back ones rolling the rear diff... listening and watching. Nothing wrong with that one.... MINT!!!
Grab hold of the back wheels and roll the front diff, suddenly diff stops turning but wheels keep moving, binds up and then shudders back to life. There she blows....
So i set about taking the front assembly off my chassis, that took half an hour. While i was taking it apart i thought.. i should give it a good clean while i am here, so out comes the cleaner and tooth brush.
3 hours later i have the front diff out, only to discover that the pinon gear has stripped 7 teeth and round its own ones. So i finish cleaning up whats left and head to the shower thinking how much fun it is to tinker
Day 2..
Been at work, on the way home call into LHS and ask the dude to order my parts. He rekons he has em in stock.. Fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes crossed hoping he has em. Grabs out a HUGE box of spares just for the buggy make that i have (Heaven) start rumagging and comes out and hands me a 38t crown gear and an 11t pinion. MMMMINT!!!!!!
So at home, started to replace the warn gears and put everything back together. Find that the left upper arm needs replacing as well as a cracked left bulkhead, gasket o'ring and diff case
Back LHS.. home again to replace parts.. Bed Time
Total time Day 2... 5 hours
Day 3... Day Off!!
Standing in the kitchen looking at the dinner table,
thinkin where do i start. Ok... finished reassembling the diff and bulkhead (Check) reattach upper arms lower arms, pins and bracings (check) reattach to chassis (check)
3 hours..
Decide that while i'm in up to my elbows i'll do the rear end as well
Take it all apart, clean, inspect, find i need to replace bottom sus pins, find and replace washer on the underside of the rear right shock piston, and get some more silicone for shocks cause old oil is black and runny. Back to LHS for the parts i need and silicone for shocks, Reassemble and reattch to chassis
MINT!!!!!!!
Clean and put fresh silicone oil in all shocks adjust spring tension...(Sus works much better now thank you)
Decide its a good idea to clean everything else as well
Back together and semi cleaned up..
10 hours
just on dusk and outside starting the engine to run it and check my handy work.. Feeling of chuffedness surging, starts sweet as usual, give it some gas.. Start to go in reverse WTF!!!!!!

Looking at starter box, someones f**ked with it while i wasn't looking, no starter box is ok, thoughts of motor running in reverse, nope motor is fine..
Stood there for half an hour going over the things that i did and relised that the front and rear diffs must have gone back in the wrong way :whhooo:

Disassemble, turned diffs reassembled and reattached to chassis..
one hour
outside, started, running sweet...
BASHING IN THE DARK!!!!!

So i havent eaten at my table with my family for 3 days :\ , i havent thought about anything but my car for 3 days :\ , havent talked to the missus about anything but my car for 3 days :\ , tired of my car now after 3 days
.. But at least i get to go to the track tomorrow
