Hi Guys,I am putting together another savage with spare parts ( could probley put 2 together with the amount of parts I have). was just looking at the sts D30M engine to put in it. Has anybody tried this mill.I have an lrp and a SH in my trucks now and want to put something different in. They are very reasonable for price. Any info would be apreciated.

Stick with the SH. The D30 has a paper thin sleeve and 9 out of 10 are overpinched from the factory. Avoid it. If you buy one make damn sure the seller is fully prepared to warranty it first.
The STS .28 is a good mill though. The carb O-rings wear quickly on all the STS engines. The HSN housing leaks if you adjust the fuel inlet position too.
I have had a STS .28, it was great engine.
STS .30 Revision 1, this one was a rocket! Untouchable, I never lost a drag race with it.
STS Rev.2 currently what they are selling. It was POS! Nothing like the Rev.1's.
STS .28 5 port truggy engine, same as the D30, POS!
2 out of 4 ran right. Not good odds.
LRP is releasing a .30 soon. I'd love to get my hands on it. I loved my LRP Z28 Spec 3.

I had a D30 and wasn't too impressed. Break-in went ok, but it went downhill from there. Ran hot and poor with very little power. I gave up on it before I wasted a bunch of fuel trying to get it to work. The carb was a bit sticky as well. I probably only ran 3/4 gallon through it, but it was a miserable 3/4 gallon.

Reminded me of my axial 28 days... sold both it and my axial as parts engines to a dude in Canada. Two less paperweights to remind me of suckiness. Since they both had less than a gallon on them, the pull-start/crank/crankcase and whatnot were all good. Just didn't run worth a poo.

I'm with Scrogg on the LRP. Great engine. I'm also waiting for the LRP30 to come out. I'll throw the 28S3 in my aftershock into my savage and put the 30 in the aftershock... can't wait for summer!

I did not know about the lrp30,I will wait and get that for sure...wow

thanks alot
