while trying to solve the problem of stripping spur gears, i found that my tranny was only being held by 3 bolts. i also found out that the holes were all stripped out. can i simply tap the trans holes for a larger screw?

btw, i bought this t-maxx used and it is my first nitro. all engine mounts have been tapped to a larger bolt and are solid.

The case is plastic? If so just put epoxy in the holes and then drill it out slightly smaller than the stock screws.

Just get some M3 brass nutserts for plastic and an 1/8th inch drill bit and drill out the holes. Take the nutserts and press them into the holes and voila! Instant reliable repair.

problem solved... 2 6-32 bolts with lock nuts on opposite corners and 5 6-32 screws. that trans won't budge with a hammer!!

thanks for all the help, but sometimes i am to impatient to wait on parts in the mail...

well I also noticed stripped tranny screw holes....... where do we get these magic m3 thingies?

You pull the transmission, drill the holes to the appropriate depth, thats what the bit with the drill stop is for, then press them in. You wont have problems anymore stripping the plastic holes out. It's the best fix for the transmission case.
