I stripped a back plate screw on my T-Maxx 2.5... Does anyone know if I could substitute a coarser thread screw? If so, does anyone know a part number or link?

Thanks.

Thread repairs

Over the years I've replaced several machine screws with a more course thread...
A few years ago I used a "Form a thread" product such as this Permatex product..Form A Thread Thread Repair
Model # 81668 by Permatex
This can usually be purchased at Napa, Schucks, Car Quest or any local parts house...

Hope this helps Ya :whhooo:

go to tonys screws. he has brass inserts. i fixed my jato transmission threaded holes in plastic.

You'd probably have to drill the hole out for the insert to work, unless you use a smaller bolt. Be sure to get all the shavings cleaned up and out of the engine if you go this route.

A good way to keep the shavings out of the motor is to put a generous blob of petroleum jelly on the end of the drill bit.

Refer to reply number 1....It's like "cure all" when it comes to threads, I've made a few of Santa's brown sleighs run with the stuff...:p:

RCPF's method would be the way I went. I don't want any shavings around my mills. Hamz tip is pretty killer though. Logged in the memory for future use.:)

turn it into a stud!!

sometimes you can use a longer bolt of the same thread with plenty of red threadlock on ,, before you screw it in put a nut on it , screw it all the way in and leave to set , tighten down the nut and very carefully cut off the screw head ... i have used this on a few occasions because holes are always threaded a little bit deeper than the original screw length
