hi all

i bought a water resistant filter that i had to relocate it and make a custom hose as it blocked the air flow to the engine & it was running hot

now what I'm wondering is will a longer air hose reduce performance in any way and also how well do these water resistant filters actually work.

also one section of the hose seems to get really cold at the carb,
i actually noticed some condensation on it when it was running and its quite warm outside and it was cold to the touch, would this cause any issues as it seems to be cooling the air entering the carb & my engine seemed to run cooler.

There's really no need for a waterproof air filter. A good 2 stage "Motor Saver" is a great filter and provides excellent air flow.
If your electronics and servos aren't waterproof you're not gaining anything.

I would,ve used a simple outerwears filter cover. They repell water and dust. With what you have it restricks airflow. And without water proof servos and reciever there's really no point of a water resistant air cleaner.

i bought it more to keep it clear of dirt and grass ect i dont run it if its raining

if it restricts air flow i can take off that cover and put the standard one one it like so

this is my shell mounted as you can see its mounted out of the way so the engine has better air flow for cooling

You might want to consider a cold air intake like this one...

that looks cool i did not really intend to make a cold air intake i just noticed that the pipe became really cool,

is that a silicon tube if so would a copper tube work my step dad is a plumber/gas engineer so there is always some scrap lying around i would use a pipe bender to give it some slight curves to fit around my fuel tank

Copper is too heavy and holds a lot of heat. If he can get the thin wall aluminum AC tubing that would be best.
Mine is acrylic with silicone angles.
