can anyone tell me the stock needle settings for the older traxxas engine, the pro .15 Thanks

any one?????? (even what settings you have yours at) my friends neighbor has one that hadn't been run in over 2 years but I got it running and I just wanted to know, because something is fishy with the carb opening at idle, the gap is about 4 mm and adjusting the idle screw dosent change it.

Thanks for the info but I saw that one already, they don't tell you as you had said the low speed settings and idle settings

If I remember correctly, it was 2 1/2 turns out from closed on the low speed. But, that was a break in setting. If it's already broken in, I'de say 2 turns.

Edit...The idle should be between .05 and .07 mm.

if the idle screw doesn't change anything, its probably held open by the linkage. its supposed to be held tight against the screw by the linkage. you may be able to take care of it just by adjusting the trim. just tinker with things for a while, change the adjusters in the linkage and see what you can do. if worse comes to worst, normally your lhs will take care of it for you and if it only takes like 5-10 mins they normally dont charge, especially if your buying something there (maybe a glowplug and a bottle of fuel  )

haha yea to get the idle to the proper width I have to have the throttle trim almost all the way down. The first time I started it up It took off at about 3/4 throttle and I had to spin around and drive in figure eights in the dirt until my friend could catch it. It was really pretty funny because nothing was broken we were both chasing it around in circles amist a big cloud of dust. Thanks

I was way off, but I found this at Traxxas....................................How should I adjust the carburetor needles on my TRX Pro .15 engine?

The first adjustment should be your idle speed. Set your throttle opening to 1.5mm open with the throttle arm pushed all the way towards the head of the engine. Next, set your low speed mixture to 1 3/4 turns out from bottom. Last, set your high speed mixture setting to 2 1/4-2 1/2 turns out from bottom. These adjustments will vary a little from engine to engine. They are meant to be a guideline. Your engine, after it is broken-in, should be adjusted according to its performance.

Thanks a bunch Road Runner thats exactly what I was looking for.

you should check to make sure your linkage is right though too, when i got my truck it was all goofy. if you tried to hit the brakes, it killed the engine. the idle screw let the carb close too much....

bkunar5356 you described the exact problem I am having with my friends engine. When ever you touch the brakes it shuts off. What did you determine was the cause?

The idle set screw should be set in such a way as to allow a 1-2mm gap in the carb when it is full closed. This is roughly the thickness of a credit card. Anything smaller and you will choke the engine off when at idle or applying the brakes.
