How many teeth does the stock clutch bell come with + how many teeth does the stock spur gear come with? Do they make higher # teeth spur gears for the savage than the stock ones? Where?

Thanks. I was looking for a little more low end to be able to pull the huge shoes I have on my Savage. Since I thought the stock clutch bell was something with fairly few teeth I figured I might have an easier time finding a bigger spur gear, but maybe not. You at least gave me a reference point to start from.

You could always get a better engine. My Hyper had no problem hauling my IMEX Jumbo Maxx tires around. Heck, I was even having better luck landing back flips with them on.

I switched to the lighter T-Maxx tires to get more speed to get more air. Ask Error what shoes my Savage had on when I broke the center shaft doing back flips...

Adding a few more teeth to the pinion (clutch bell) will help in the low end tourque department but your top end will suffer a lil bit.

Sorry, you have it the other way around. Fewer teeth on the clutch bell or more teeth on the spur gear is better low end. More teeth on the clutch bell or fewer teeth on the spur gear is better top end.

It's alright. I do the same thing. I have found cheat sheets work wonders for alzheimers as it kicks in more and more.

I've found this chart, actually for a T-Maxx, extremely helpful.

Screw delrin. It's a self lubricating plastic based substance that it intended for bearing material. Sure it's hard, but it doesn't even have any reenforcement in it.

Pirata, I was running a 16t CB at the bash, I started off running those bigassed HB 40's and couldn't get poop for air. I was just too into it to change up to the 14 or the 13t CB and switched back to the stock tires (on HB rims), then switched to Mulchers on T-Maxx rims for the same reason Sky did, lighter=moreair due to a better power to weight ratio. And yes, Sky busted that bone with the big tires. I'm not bashing ya, just making an observation. Like I said, I sunk a C-note into the HB RTR 40's, thinking that with the 16t CB and the Hyper 8 it would be insane. Fact is, on level ground, they are. But introduce some ramps, and the flight times do way down. If I put a smaller CB on, the engine has a better chance of gettting the tires to go around, but the shaft RPM at the hubs drops, but with the bigger tires the velocity of the truck increases. The end result of dropping the CB and putting on bigger tires is the same (or nearly so) MPH of the truck. But what isn't the same is the weight of the truck and that affects the acceleration and hang time if the same engine is used. Most of what I've read about guys doing wheelies and getting big air with jumbo tires is that they're also running a Picco .26 or some Franken-Savage twin. Franly, I was a bit let down by the performance of my Hyper equipped truck with the HB jumbos.

Just me 2 cents, bro.
Whitt...

And the truth comes out...thank you, Error.
