I'm running a Picco .26 in my Savage. The thing has torque like no tomorrow and has stripped the gears in both my trucks as well as giving me problems with the bearing at the screw at the end of the shaft. *I put it in the other truck while fixing the first*. Anyway, I'm having a tough time getting it tuned just right and idle smoothly. On top of that, It's going through glow plugs like I do cocktails on a Friday night. At the moment, I'm getting about 2 tanks of gas per glow plug. What the heck am I doing wrong? And what can I do to fix it? If I have to keep buying them, that's OK....but I'm sick of having to change them out.

TIA,

TX

there may be a few things that can be the problem,1- you could have a air leak somewhere crack in your tank, lines or even the back plate or carb could have a posible leak, first i would check all of that then seal the back plate and carb with air seal or rtv, also your tuning could come into play if you run it really lean your going to burn plugs what kind of plugs are you using?as for the bearing or bushing in the front of the clutch bell i used another bearing in its place and have had no problems since just pick up a ofna 1/8 clutch bell shim kit it comes with the screw, shims and everything except the bearing the brass one it comes with will last me one bash session. after you fix these problems you should be fine how did you strip your gears?spur gears or trans gears?

So far, all gears found in front and rear boxes are missing teeth. The tranny doesn't shift anymore *boggle*, and i blew both the 49t and 15t bell. All of this in a week or so. It was a little bit of bashing, but nothing that bad I didn't think. It appears that all of the grease that came from the factory is now completely gone. Since I didn't look before running, I'm wondering how much it actually had on it.

Sorry, was talking Diff. grease. After the teeth broke off of the wheel and being ground into nasty, the remainder of the grease in the diff turned from white to black (what was left). And many of the remaining teeth are now destroyed. Ground up metal + hot, non heat dispursing grease = lots of damage.
