E I'm still interested in a buggy/truggy platform but I have one simple question that I'm sure has a complicated answer. Why would one pick a buggy over a truggy and vise versa?

Personally I would say that buggies are more for racing and truggies are more for bashing.

truggies are a liitle more forgiving to drive. they are wider, longer, and heavier which slows the responsivness down compared to a buggy. parts and tires generally cost more for the truggies as well.

If I bought a 1/8 buggy roller/kit, what size engines are recommended? Does it have to be a 21 for racing? What's your thoughts on the JL .21 pro for a buggy? I like the picco in my revo.

I have the clocked Jl.21 in my buggy with JP-3 pipe and I could not be happier. This motor just screams very controllable power band so easy to tune and it will rev forever. Not sure how the stock version is.

What's the clocked?

Cool thanks. I'm not familiar yet with who has the reputations for tweaking engines, how would you compare modified engines from clockworkracingengines and extreme rc mods?

I decided to try electric and ordered a XB808E

Tekin 1900 esc combo

What kind of torque do I need in the steering servo? I want overkill, I want just the right amount.

Hey guys I'm going to order some tires. Do we tape buggy tires like MT tires?

Not normally. Aka makes really nice tires and they come premounted too. Cityblocks are a good all around tire to start with.

If you are racing you may want to pick up two sets. Medium for practice and soft for racing.

Thanks. BTW what's the difference between the foam incerts, I have choices. lol.

How They support the tire. Can alter the curve and how firm or soft the tire is.

Finally off backorder and paid today for the Xray XB808E kit, KoPropo 30100 servo, and a Hitec X4 Plus AC/DC charger. Wallets kind of light after today, so I might be waiting untill next payday to pick up some Lipo's.

I can't wait to start this project. Repetitively speaking, I’ve never built an electric buggy, will I need to do any soldering during the process?
