For anyone in the NC area, hopefully close to Lake Norman, who has a decent used RC, Nitro, or Gas boat for sale, cheap.I really want to get into rc boating, but dont want to spend the money for new yet.....:)

best bet is sign up on this forum... www.jrcbd.com Can usually find good deals on used boats. If it will be your first boat..id highly recommend Gas instead of Nitro. Nitro boats arent really like cars/trucks. If the tune is off.. it will go out and either die on launch, or get 100-200ft away from you and die.

Nitro boats are not as difficult to tune as land vehicles. They are a fun and cheap way to get into boating. Best performance boats are mostly electric brushless though.

I ran nitro boats for about 8 years before switching to gas. Maybe the RTR ones arent too bad...but when you move up to the high performance engines like Rossi's, CMB's, etc... it gets tricky. Land engines when not under a load you can tune to have good throttle response without a load even on the engine. Try that with a high performance boat, and you'll burn up plugs and die from being too lean once on the water.

good info to know, I like to think I'm a pretty good tuner, just looking for something small and cheap for right now and doing some homework before purchase!

Fuel Crazy is right i ran nitro boats for some time your engines better be right on,otherwise better invest in a row boat to go fetch it.I just am finishing up a 60" vee i went gas got tired of the cost of fuel a long weekend can get expensive.Just something to give some thought to.:D

what are you calling cheap?

If you are wanting like a RTR entry level boat...id look into something like the Aquacraft SV27 or the Miss Vegas Duece (if you will be running on mainly calm water).

I know someone who runs on Lake Norman and has some very fast (one a recent record setter) but I don't think that he sells any of his boats. He's a well-known NASCAR Sprint Cup racer and bought one of mine a couple of years ago.
Check the IMPBA site, www.impba.net as there are some clubs in your area with some really good racers that you could hook up with.
