It seems like my steering servo works fine turns quickly and everything when I just start to run my tmaxx (older style 3.3 with 2055 servo) but after I drive it for a few minutes it gets slow to turn, gets to the point to where it doesn't want to turn at all. Then I'll let it sit for a minute and it'll turn a little bit better but not to full steering. The throttle works fine the whole time, quick and responsive. Is my steering servo going out? Does my battery need to be changed? I have the traxxas 5cell 1100mah 6volt hump pack, not the 4 AAs. It happened after a full charge too, thats why I think the servo. I am looking at buying a bluebird bms-821. It is a high speed (.09 speed) and high torque(i think 112oz) metal gears and everything. Anyone have an opinion on this servo?
 
I'm not familiar with the Bluebird servo you mentioned as a possible replacement. But yes it does sound like the servo is starting to fail. If you have good response from the throttle and brake and don't notice a drop off of performance with them, I'd say your battery pack seems fine. There are more knowledgeable members that know more about servos than I do, but that's my 2 cents worth. :)
 
I agree with MrClean. I've had that happen with a few servos over the years. Worked fine when cold/cool, but after using for a few minutes, they would get slow, twitchy or just generally freak out. I've had it happen with Airtronics, Hitec, Futaba and JR servos. Hitec and Futaba are what I typically run.
 
It sounds like it's time for a new servo but with a T Maxx I wouldn't worry so much about the speed as much as I would tourqe, I also have not heard of blue bird either and would sugest something name brand like hitec or futaba this is the servo I am getting for my E Maxx http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTHR3&P=7
 
that happen to my throttle/brake servo before
the problem is it's kinda dirty
cuz i have some oil stuck on the moving parts
when i just start my truck, it's very hard for servo to move
once it heat up...truck moving fine...
i dunno that's the same for ur steering servo, but u can check on that too
see if something on ur steering moving parts
 
Well I already bought the bluebird(it was $15) It seems to have a high torque and it does have metal gears, but now it just spins the gears inside the splined servosaver. I am going to take the steering parts apart and clean/lube them. Sometime in the near future I will put ball bearings in the crappy tmaxx steering stuff. Can I use a silicone lube in with the plastics in the steering? I was thinking of upgrading to the new tmaxx steering setup, do they seem to be a better steering bellcrank and such? The servo i bought can be used with futaba splines from what I've read and the seller told me. It seems to be a nicely built servo, just a little on the cheap side. The guy I bought it from used it on his heli for 3d flying. Like I said, I'm going to clean everything up, and get a new servosaver/horn.
