RC Driving Style
Well i had a bad crash and broke my upper and lower left front A-armsand finnally got around to puttin on RPM arms all around so i get it all set and notice the front wheels will move fairly easy with the servo on and the servo saver will twist with them off the servo will turn i dunno if that makes a difference but i have the servo saver off and it doesn't look like the spring is broken or worn out should it move that easily because I've never noticed it b4 or should i just go to the lhs and pick up a servo saver and see if that does the trick??
 
Not quite certain what the problem is here. Does the steering work? If so, then go with what you have. If you are concerned that the steering servo is damaged, the only way to know is to run it. If you think the servo saver is busted, then replace it (fairly inexpensive to do so).

If the steering does not work, then we need to take a better look at things. As of right now, you haven't described a problem (at least from my point of view).
 
the steering was sloppy but i got a new servo saver today and its better
 
hi tec

I just put on my hi tec 645 and this thing has POWER. I realized when I took it, the steering, apart my servo saver that I bought a week ago or so is already stripped. Is there a metal tooth one out there or should I just buy a pocket full of plastic ones?

thank you for your response. As I said I got a new servo, placed to the same way in as the original one and ....it steers the opposite way of my wheel on the controller.. any suggestions.
 
yo hould have a servo reverse on your controler if ts the stock traxxas one look at te bottom next to where it says on then at the right in white letters it will say (CH. 1) and flip that lil black switch
 
hmmmm..... ya reverse no problem, and anybody could explain to me what a servo saver is?

i think i got an idea but what does it do
 
it does exactly that saves the servo from being stripped out from ahard front landing or crash the stock one is spring loaded and wil give under impact
 
Servo savers are basically shock absorbers for the servo. While driving your vehicle takes many bumps. Those bumps go straight through the linkages to the servo. Without somekind of dampener to take those "shocks" out, the servo would take the brunt of that and wear out quickly. Servo savers take those shocks and help "save" the servo.
 
If you look at your stock servo that comes with a Maxx you'll see the round white thing that the linkage is attached to. That's Traxxas' version of a servo saver.

If you replace your steering servo with a more powerful one, you'll need a servo saver.

The slipper clutch is also a shock absorber for the drive train.
 
I would suggest getting the pro-line maxx steering kit. It has a built in saver that is way more sturdy than the ones that mount on the servo itself. It's a little pricey, but it lasts a good long while. It increases steering response by reducing friction as well.
