RC Driving Style
Any advise on a good steering servo and saver for savage 25? Thanks for any help.
 
Hands down, the Cam-type servo saver by HPI (part number 87197) is the best route. It upgrades the steering assembly to have a much better servo saver. While you're doing that upgrade, you might want to toss in some 6x10mm bearings (4), in place of the plastic bushings.

Now, as for a good servo, I have a JR 650M in mine, but the Hitec 625mg or 645mg is a great servo for it.
 
I agree with HB. I have the servo saver w/bearings he's talking about and I run a 645MG. Although, a little higher torque wouldn't hurt my feelings any. The 650M costs a little more, but the numbers are a little better. Both are around $50.

was the cam style on the ss 4.6?
and get a high torque servo like 945mg but I have the digital version with big joes and it still gets the job done fine!
 
Thanks any advise on the roto starts? Mine just spins then after a minute it will grab.
 
Your OWB (one way bearing) is dieing or needs cleaned in a bad way.

Take the starter apart, soak the OWB in DA (alcohol) and spin it on a alcohol wet'd paper towel until the gunk is cleaned out. Then put a drop of 3-in-1 (light oil) in it. If that doesn't work buy a new OWB and starter shaft that it spins on. A worn shaft will ruin an OWB pretty quickly and OWB's aren't cheap.
 
My roto start is brand new, is the OWB on the truck itself?
 
It's what your rotostart is connected to inside the housing. The starter shaft goes through it. When the roto-start (or pullstarter) rotates in the proper direction, the bearing locks onto the shaft and the shaft turns. When the engine starts, the bearing releases it's hold and allows the shaft to spin freely.
