I've stripped my spur gear yet again and don't want to get another plastic one. If I get a hardened steel one will I have to upgrade anything else or will my normal transmission be able to handle it?

You would have to get a hardened clutch bell as well. Even with the steel spur and CB, if the mesh is of they will strip like the plastic.

i have a bb maxx with steel all the way through the drivetrain(cvd's, inside transmission, and in the diffs). if i don't they break. the only plastic that is left is the spur gear. almost never loose them. proper mesh and slipper clutch adjustment is all you need.

Mesh Mesh Mesh Bro I feel yoiu pain I was burning out 2 of these a week! I would think I had it right crank the motor run it with not porblems on the road back and forth. Jump the curve and take off into the field like a mad man! Come back and I hear the motor rev up alot but the the truck is not moving fast at all Punch the gas a wooomp spur gear is done ! Either wasn't tight after I meshed it or was too tight of a mesh. You need to have a lil play between the two and a piece of paper between them works well to get the meshed right. Also tighten down the spring all the way the back off of it about a half a turn this has worked well for me.

It's only the second one I've ever ruined in about 2 years. I don't know if it's normal, maybe they just last a year. Ill try your method of meshing it with a plastic one.
