Hey,so I bought a savage x and am doing the break in and kept turning the wrong way so my son says flip this switch on the controller and it will turn the other way.Well it didnt work now I can get the stearing to retern to straight.switched it back tried adjusting still wants to turn right.

With the truck off the ground, what does it do when you turn the wheel full left to full right and center?

It turns but not real well, and it still does not center.Seams kinda slow turning compaired to my kids redcat.the batteries were new when I started the heat cycle break in i will put the hump pack in after work and see if that helps.

to me this sounds like it could be batteries, try changing the hump pack and the controller batteries, or meter them up see what there reading? if this does not work i would try upgrading your steering servo :)

If it is the stock controller for the savage ,turn the knob on the controller for the steering sensitivity up, ours gets bumped all the time on the stock am controller.
Hope this helps with the sluggish steering, as far as the centering of the steering make sure all your batteries are new and good.

Have Fun,

Well i had to remove the screw from the servo and center it to get it to go straight. My question now is with the sensitivity turned up shouldn't I be able to adjust the steering a little with the little steering trim thing on the controller? When I turn it it really does nothing. Also I would kind of like to upgrade to a better radio,is there allot involved in that?Does anyone have a suggestion on what to buy?

In my experience, that "little steering trim thing on the controller" only moves it a smidgen. I think it's there because you rarely are able to get a servo horn to be truely centered when you install it. Between this steering trim thing and a turnbuckle you can center your servo/wheels. The trim thing works well to make minor adjustments on the fly.

What servo is on your Savage? You may want to upgrade that.
Also, with your wheels off the ground and the arms hanging all the way down, the binding that occurs can strain even a strong servo.

Radio - I'd recommend a good 2.4GHz system that has a failsafe.
With a 2.4GHz radio/receiver you don't have to worry about another radio being on you channel.
Basically the new radio will come with a receiver that replaces the original one that came with the Savage. It's plug, set-up, and play.

Spektrum has some good radio systems.

I've been running a spektrum 3.0 (one of the first I think) for a few years and really like it. Decent range, plenty of adjustability and a built in fail safe if I do loose signal. Not sure if it monitors battery though... I haven't run a receiver battery dead in many years.

Only downside is that I think it only supports 4 models, which is what I have now... so if I get a new truck... I'll have to get rid of an old one! Or buy a new transmitter. I can't be bothered with having more than one... lol

Thank you both,I ordered the spektrum 3.0.now what servo do you suggest to replace the stock one?

Depends on what you want to spend. The hitech 985MG is a good servo for $70. Fairly strong (172oz @ 6V), fast and sealed with o-rings to help keep moisture out.

That's what I run on my revo for steering and throttle. I run one for throttle on my aftershock and savage too. The sealed output shaft is what sells me on them. Since most throttle servos sit upright with the horn towards the sky, the o-ring helps keep moisture from wicking in around the output shaft.

Anything over 300oz. I can tell you, after only running six tanks in mine, that the stock steering servo is garbage.

Ok first I'm a newb so go easy, finally went to install my new spektrum 3.0 and new stearing servo and ran into a bit of a snag with the throttle servo connecter that is in the truck will not plug into the new reciever because of the little tab that sticks out.Can I just trim that off? Does it matter which way its pluged in?

You can trim it off, but I'm not sure if it can be plugged in backwards, so remember which side the tab was on. Mark it with a silver sharpie or something.

Got it thanks for the help.now if someone would post some pics or a video of the gear problems there haveing so I can check mine before there toast I would really appriciate it,Thank You
