Were switching from Dish network to Direct Tv and they will give us one of these packages for 12 months free. I havnt had any of these channels for years, and dont know which is better. Starz comes with 12 channels, and the Showtime has 9. Which is better and which would you get? And why?? (Appriciate the help)

I've got the America's Everything pack on Dish.... Personally, I like Starz more; they tend to show the newer stuff more. However, Showtime has alot of the older stuff, and a lot of the new stuff too. It also has sports on it (I think they have boxing, I'm not sure).
Given a choice, I'd say Starz, simply because of the value, unless you're into boxing, then it's Showtime. It really is a close tossup.

We've had Dish Network for years and its like it gets worse every year. To use the "Guide" you have to sit there and wait for minutes to see whats coming on, and we were paying more for one unit with 75 less channels less than we will with 4 Dv-r Units, more channels, and from the sounds better service, with Direct Tv. Its also its $8 cheaper and there running a special this month to new members that ya get a free portable dvd player.. can't beat that..ZANDOR said:

Schedule menu is great. Why do you have to hang for minutes to see whats on? DVRs are great and we turn them in and get the latest upgrades whenever they come out. No issues here.
HBO and Starz for us. We did have Skinamax for a free trial. Its got all the soft porn but after 3.5 minutes I would change the channel.

I dunno, it always says "Please wait". Its like its searching for the info at a REALLY slow speed. We've called on it before and they said its typical and we "shouldnt worry". Maybe its just Minnesota. We have dish network at our cabin (250 miles north) and it does it there too.. Also takes a really long time (At least 5 minutes) when a person press's "info" to see what the show is about..FastEddy said:

I switched from Direct TV to Dish Network and love it. Not sure about the channel guide issue you're having, although it sounds like the cards in your boxes might need updated.
Anyhow, as to your question, I'd vote Starz as well. Always have good flicks on!

Maybe Minnesota is just a slow area or something. We thought it was because we had a older box and card and even upgraded to a DV-R and it was still slow. I have some buddies that have Dish and have the same probs. Guessing just the area or something. Thing that throws me off is it gets worse over time. I dunno...lol.. The direct Tv guys are coming in the morning..

I didn't like sho when we had it. It was mostly either old horrible moveis or this independent crap. Starz is the way to go.
