  1. Bashing
ok i was stuck on for sure getting the RC8 but I'm starting to reconsider since all i do is bash and i will never race. i know we have went over there a 100 times but what will be the next to best buggy behind the RC8. i want something I'm not going to have to buy stuff right off the bat. oh and alot of durability and speed thanks

If it doesn't have to be a buggy, you can get a truggy. The speed of a buggy with the durability of a MT.

well I'm trying to get a price below 500 which is how much the rc8 is and all the truggys i find are way higher

All the Ofna buggies and truggies are durable and can be race worthy with a little tuning.
I have the Ofna Picco buggy, it's only 310 roughly on Towerhobbies.
You can pick up the Mutilator truggies under 500 as well.

Hey what are some good servos i can get for the hyper 7 TQ black or are the stock ones pretty good themselves. i decided on that buggy cuz I'm just a basher and never will be a racer due to not a track closer than 2 hrs away. can i get some good suggestions for a good setup

Are you shopping for servos before you drive your new buggy? I say try that baby out and see how you like it. If you don't race like you've mentioned then there really isn't much reason to upgrade to something higher performance aside from the durability standpoint. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.. especially when you're on a budget.

ok well i have another question. i have a hpi mt will this run as fast or faster then it?

I don't know that it's faster.. a buggy is quite different than a truck in respect to the way they drive. They are all fast.

dam i hate being so confused on what i want to get. I change my mind too much haha. first i can't decided wether i want to wait and safe to get a rc8 or go ahead and get the hyper 7 tq black, then i can't decide wether i want a buggy or a truggy. jeezz lol that is prolly why i have so many post on here. I'm going to try this. I'm going to put everything i would like in a rc on here and let ya just fly away with ideas. ok here we go lol
1. I'm going to be just bashing but i want a rc that will have the durability and speed of a racing rc
2. does it really matter between truggy and buggy for my situation?
3. price range either right at or below $500 with or without needed upgrades
4. preferably something with a already good radio system and servo system on it
5. Fast. i want something that will get up and go quick
6. and finally 4X4. that is all i can think of for now. thanks guys

hmm not too much dirt mostly grass and pavement. there will be times i will be running it on dirt tho.

I suggest a truggy for you.

Monster trucks are the bread and butter of go anywhere vehicles but IMO pavement running with them isn't very fun. Their higher center of gravity makes it easy for them to traction roll and without a lot of suspension tweaking and tuning they just don't handle that great on-road. Hence they aren't very enjoyable if you're going to spend a lot of time on pavement.

Buggies are also great go anywhere vehicles but because they are race-bred they are relatively low to the ground. If you plan on running quite a bit in the grass this isn't necessarily a great choice because the lower ride height of a buggy will bog down in medium to tall grass..

Truggies offer the best of both. They will handle much better on pavement because of the way their components are laid out. The center of gravity is much lower than a monster truck. But because they use a much taller tire than a buggy they don't get swamped in average height grass like a buggy may.

Here's a couple for you to look at that I'm NOT familiar with

I can personally recommend the Thunder Tiger ST-1 truggy. I have the buggy version and it's pretty damn tough. I have a couple upgrades but not much and even if you did upgrade the same parts I have you would still be well under $500

TTR ST-1 RTR $300
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_44_50/products_id/17281
Front/Rear suspension plate $23

Rear/Rear suspension plate $23
Steering $56

That's only $400 and you'll have one tough truck I guarantee. Every magazine article that I've ever read about the St-1 raved about it's durability. RC Driver, RCCA, XRC.. all the big ones. This is a very underated truck in my opinion.

...and if my opinion isn't good enough... Read the reviews...

BTW- Thunder Tiger owns Associated Electronics so the radio gear you get is the same as what comes with all the AE RTR's except it's branded differently. It's a standard AM radio system but with $100 left in your budget you have a good head start at a nice FM or even 2.4ghz system

Thunder Tiger Buggy ? which variant ? S2 Or S3 ?? my S2 been to hell and back, rebuilt three times and still as strong as an ox, even with an OS 30 Engine and supercharger !!!

The ST-1 IS a good truggy, but the EK4 is also a sweet MT based on the EB4 Buggy chassis (I back converted an ek4 to an EB4 with attitude an a .70 engine !!)

For durability go Thunder Tiger, naffy handset but great performance and durability.

hey on the thunder cat what does it mean it has a optional 2 speed trans.? will they ask me which one i want or what?

No, it means that an optional extra is a two speed trans instead of the standard single speed trans.

Actually.....the rally game EB4 has an optional two speed if i remember rightly. What thunder cat you looking at buying ?

the Thunder Tiger ST-1. would it be better to go ahead and get the 2 speed or what? does that mean buying a whole new engine for it?

If you don't intend to race it might be a fun addition, so yeah, what the heck. No you don't need to replace your engine. I'm not familiar with the conversion but I imagine it just replaces your center differential.

anyone have a link lol

from what i can tell if i get 2 speed trans for it i have to buy a whole bunch of other stuff to change it. is that true are am i just dumb at looking up stuff
