starting shaft spinning??

i go to start my savage x, insert the roto start, and the starting bearing grips the starting shaft (bearing is brand new), but its just spinning free, and theres something inside that needs to be replaced and i dont know wat it is. help

Is the glow plug tight on the head?

The little nub that hooks on to the starter shaft on the crank might have broken off. You might have to open it up and find out.

Look at the parts exploded diagram in the manual. Since you replaced the bearing, you had it apart, and either you didn't reinstall or improperly installed the pin and spring that lock in to start it.
