so I've done a lil more, got all the coil springs done and also did the linkage, Pretty much a roller now. I really want to dye the rims but not sure if ican get the tires off without destroying them, is that possible? Heard acetane would work, any experiance with this?

You can boil them or bake them in an oven to remove the tires.

The down side to boiling them is it can destroy the foams.

Boiling with warp the rims, wrap the rims in foil pre heat your oven to 350 turn it off put the rims in the even and let it cool down, the tires will come off and the foams will be fine.

I boil all my wheels/tires for dismounting. Never warped a wheel or destroyed a foam that was in good shape to begin with.

Boiling will discolor and/or cause a chromed finish to peel.

I've warped 2 plastic rims from boiling, it depends on how soft the plastic gets and how you handle them after you remove them from the hot water. I like to bake the rims its easier for me.
Also if you boil you should not reuse the pot for cooking food in it afterwards, that's why I bake and wrap in foil, when your done you discard the foil and your done, and you dont need to buy the wife a new pot.

Never had a problem boiling, (wife bought me my own boiling pot :))
I did get scolded for baking in the oven and trying to explain the smell to her on one occasion though:angry:

Wouldnt have mattered about boiling the rims and warping them cause i boiled them in RIT orange dye and water anyhow. I got them off by folding them back to get to the bead and ran a exacto knife down between the beed and tire, all the way around and came off with ease. And there still fine cause there already mounted back on!! Did Learn a valuable lesson about dyeing plastic with rit dye. The powder is alot stronger than the liquid. I had two done just the way i wanted them and ran out of dye. So i went to the store and all i caould find was the powder. Well lets just say they came out alot darker and i then had to darken the other two to make them match. Also got all electronics hooked up and wires ran neatly. Got the motor cleaned and sealed, and ready to be put in. Just waiting on the forward only kits i bought and it should be rtr. Well after i get a body for it also. Think its gonna be put up for sale when all done. Have a couple people around here that say they want it already but talks cheap. First come first serve..
