Hey guys,

Is it possible to start a HPI RS4 2 with a 1/8th buggy starterbox? Can I just turn the RS4 sideways to start it? lol

I wanna get a non pull engine for my RS4 2, and it would be nice if I can start it and my buggy on it...

I asked my LHS guy about this last week. He said you can start 1/10 or 1/8 scale vehicles with a 1/8 scale box. he said he turns his 1/10 on-road sideways all the time instead of changing the wheel (some boxes are universal) direction.

hell i was starting my 1/8th scale buggy with my 10th scale box all the time, and all i did was turn it to match the wheel.lol

Okay, thanks a lot guys, sounds like I'll never be usuing a pull starter again :D

Can anyone reccomend me a decent starter box? One that will be able to start a Wasp .28 in my buggy and a XTM .18 in my RS4...thanks a lot. And also a battery and charger?

The Ofna is probably the best box there as far as durabilty and a functionality. I will warn you though..... it is a ***ch to put together and setup. The instructions suck... but once you get it together it is together and it is smooth sailing from there. As far as the battery and charger, the first one you show will fit the box, the third battery/charger combo, it looks as if the battery is will be too big for the box. So if you go with the ofna the first battery and charger you show you should be all set. With the ofna you can rotate the motor to start your 1/10 by swinging the motor or just turning your car like the other folks had mentioned.

Hi, I'm new here and new to RC Nitro. I have a Warhead and a Nitro Evader ST. I was telling the guy at my almost LHS (it is 25 miles away) about the blisters on my fingers from starting my Wardead during break-in and he said that the best way to start these cars is with a starter box. I didn't realize that there was a difference in the way the engines were positioned in the cars until I got home and started looking at them. I saw in some previous posts that some people just turn the car that the box is not set up for sideways and start it that way. Is there a box that you can set up to start both of my cars without having to re-setup the box for each car? I know that there are line up pins or something for the car. Can a box be setup so that you can set line up pins for both cars without moving the motor in the box? How do you guys that turn the cars sideways get the flywheel lined up easily? Maybe it is not as big a pain as I am thinking it would be. I wanted something kind of idiot proof because the Evader is my 11 year old sons, and I don't want him to have problems everytime we use the cars.

Hope you guys can help me with this. Thanks.

AC here is one of the stronger boxes you can buy for 1/10 scale, uses a 12v starter motor and will turn any small or big block engine over quite easily. The light red color is also very couture.

Fordaholic, it is not possible to have a box that will allow you perfect placement with two different models of cars without having to re-orient the starterbox pegs. I would run a seperate box for each car, you will find it to be much more convenient and time saving. Try looking in the for sale section for a used box or ebay.

Iused the same box for my OFNA 9.5/ MBX-5 /XB8 and a mutant maxx all in one day...it's easy to do....

just don't use the allignment pegs....the only "setup" you need to do is re-alligning those things to specific cars anyway...just take em off and eye-ball it......or just get an airplane starter motor and wheel...hold your car on one end and bump it.......

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. I had posted on two other forums over the last four days and this is the only place I got a reply. Plaidfish, how do you do what you described, and how do you set up the wheel to bump it?

Thanks again.
