Starterbox help.

My first thought is that you are not aligning the box correctly and the starter wheel is contacting the chassis.

I'm old school. I use a hand held airplane starter with a donut on it. It never needs a new belt, it never has a problem lining up, and it will bump start any motor I've come across without loosing up the glow plug. Best of all it is only about $20 for the motor and $5 for the donut. I have used the same donut and motor for the past 15 years. I have started my new P5, Sirios, many OS engines and will soon be using it for my WS7II.

Believe me, I'm not. I have done that before, but when the belt was fine it would turn it over just a few times, just enough for it to start, and then it just gave out. When the Wasp is out of the truck, I can barely turn over the engine at all unless I have pliers. Also, when the wheel does contact the chassis it leaves streaks of rubber on the chassis, there is none on there now. I jsut don't think this box can handle it.

Anyway I have already ordered an Ofna True Start chrome top box and 7 amp battery. I think another part of the problem was the two stick packs instead of a gel cel.

You will love that starter box. I use the exact same one and that single large motor will do the trick. The instructions suck but all OFNA instructions are like that anyway.

Yea and its direct drive which is the main thing I needed. I couldn't be that hard to build a starter box anyway...

Well, I have 3 starterboxes. and all of them have the single motor. I prefer it that way because I don't want to deal with belts. I have 2 OFNA boxes (Pink multistart and the blue and chrome top 1/8 offorad box) and one Dynamite Torque start box. All three can turn the tightest bigblock with no problem when trying to break it in. I never had to loosen the glowplugs either. These are basically the bumpstart motors used to start airplane engines, that are mounted in a box. I love em. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Do yourself a favor. Use the alignment pegs. It'll save you the frustration of trying to find the right position to start your buggy. Drop, push and start ...

Diver, that is exactly what I want lol. No damn belts. I completely forgot about alingment pegs on mine and it pisses me off sometimes lol, I will use them on this one. Apparently these gel cels are heavy, Priority Mail for them on tower is like $30, so I had to get regular shipping and leave my LSP as a shelf queen for now.

Yea, I wanted a direct drive one anyway, the powerpanel one is a belt drive I think. Thanks tho mike.
