I was looking for a starter for my Maxx since the stupid pull start broke, anyway I'm sick of that damn thing anyway I had surgery on my shoulder not to long ago and after pulling that thing over and over it starts to hurt, I can afford right now to buy the electric starter and all the parts that go with it which I'm not even to sure exaclty all I need, but I was thinking of getting this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1200&item=5958707615&rd=1

Then I could just use my drill anyway do these work well and would I need to use a extention on my drill to reach the drive on the starter. Please let me know what you think of these good bad or otherwise thanks

Yup they got em at the LHS Sweetness if you ask me

just be carefulll a drill has a lot more torque. I would loosen the glow plug while starting (just me) because if you hydrolock the engine the drill has enough power to bend your rod

I knew I heard somewhere that the torque of a drill could damage the motor wasn't sure how though. I could set my drill so it wont put to much torque to it to prevent that. Do you know if you need an extension on the drill to reach the starter?

Do you have the .15 with side exhaust, or the 2.5 with rear exhaust?
It looks to me like you would have to get a nut driver for that sized shaft, then cut off the handle and chuck the driver in the drill. That would be similar to a rotostart setup. There's no way you would get the drill directly on the starter.
With a cordless drill, you can adjust the clutch to a lower torque setting.

Its a .15 with side exaughst and I have some nut drivers I could customize hehe

Rc boys had one similar to this one except the drive had a pivot on it so you could get to it easier I just havent came across one like that yet

I'd go for that starter if I were you. Some guys love pull starts, but I despise them. Probably because the only ones I deal with are on problem engines. If it's electric start I'll work on them alone. If it's a pull start, the owner does the pulling, and I do the troubleshooting.
Last summer I got a super deal on a Losi XXX-NT and a huge box of parts. By the time I had the car running after half an hour, all 4 knuckles on both hands were cut and bleeding. (It was enough to make me hurl)
I haven't touched a pull start since.

I use a Leather Work Glove with my pull start and havnt gotten a blister since.

I've busted a knuckle or 2 also lol its really hard on my shoulder that I just has surgery on not to long ago. And the stupid pullstart diddnt last long at all. I m going to get it fixed sometime soon. I'm thinking of getting a Savage but havent decided yet anyway thanks for the info now I dont feel like I'm going to hurl lol Jesse>:stick:<Rolex
