does any one know if starter boxes have to have thier own battery or can I just hook it up to my Jeep when I need it
thank you in advance

they usually have there own battery on that would hook to truck would be nice ..I'm looking for starter box my self

I was looking and they say that they take a twelve volt batt. and thats what all cars have so I was thinking it would work but not sure if the amps are to high

I have a starter box and it uses battery packs, but I have seen some guys use their car batteries to power thier boxes. It can be done, but how? Ill look around.

I think if you take some alligator clamps a connector andd some good wire you could make like jumper cables for it I just didnt know if it would kill the box or not but if someone else has done it before then it should work

min etakes a 12volt battery but a car battery has too many amps. You may blow a motor unless you have some kind of transofrmer or something limitting the amps put through to the starter.

When I had my Ofna true start, it can be used with both normal car 12v, and 12v for the sb. It got alligator clips to plug in the spot where your charge the boxs 12v and it will work about the same...

I have a serpent box that used to be run off 2 stick packs but the previous owner just cut about 6 ft. of cord off a bad car battery charger (with the two big alligator clips) and soldered them directly to the motors on the box and I just drive around with a spare car battery in the back of my bronco and every weekend I use it to power my starter box and my battery charger for all my batteries (tx,rx,glow ignitor, etc.) and it works beautifully. Another plus is that if I ever get stuck with a dead battery I have a spare in the back! As far as amperage goes, this battery has 650 cold cranking amps and my starter box works great with it. I have even seen guys using those jumper boxes, for jump starting dead car batteries for their boxes but they dont last as long as a regular battery but they can just be recharged by plugging them into a 110 outlet.

As Lason and Akina stated, you should be able to run your box off of the car battery as well. All OFNA boxes I have seen come with the wiring you need to do so.

I would recommend a 12v battery and an overnight charger (total cost about 25 bucks). This way you can take your starter box wherever its needed and not have to keep running back to your big vehicle to get started.

I second that. Like I said I have the 12 volt car battery in the back of my truck but only because the previous owner modified the box to begin with and I also need a souce of electricity at my track but my new hyper 7 came with a box and gell cell and it is REALLY convienant being able to tote it all around in one hand.
