is there a big difference in the first gen stampede and the newer ones. i have a chassis with a-arms the chassis is grey and i found one used cheap that has a black chassis. and i also have a xl-5 esc. the black chassis one is complete. just curious. thanks shaun

The gray chassis sounds like the newer generation Stampede as the first generation Stampede had a solid black chassis.

The difference is really the electronics, the newer generation Stampede features waterproof ESC, motor and radio box - whereas the first generation didn't. Both use the 272 magnum transmission and the rest of the part are inter-changeable.

well i did some bartering again and picked up 2 stampedes and a jr xr3i new in the box. it was so awesome to watch my some play with the truck. it only took 5 min and he wanted to build a ramp. i think that they will hold up well to a 6 yr old abuse. i had more fun watching him giggle and learn how to do a wheelie.

I love my Pede, it's my favorite basher out of all my cars n trucks. Tough as nails, ridiculously overpowered, and easy to work on.
