Stampede - Hoss - Stampede

Traxxas has 'replaced' the Hoss (which was just an upgraded Stampede) with the latest upgraded Stampede 4x4 VXL.

Along with the HD suspenion parts, the Stampede 4x4 now has the center diff instead of a slipper, and the same motor/ESC combo that was in the Hoss.

I like the older versions of the pede. Don't like the newer ones as like said they are essentially a hoss. Don't like that boxy body style. Idk. But MTs are still fun.

As much as I want a 4x4 it's too short and you can't extend it. If I could make it the wheel base of my 1/8 stampede I'd probably get one.

I did almost buy the kit version but it's long gone.

Stoopid Traxxas. I wanted one too. They got rid of nearly all of their kits besides the Slash I think.

It's so funny. I have a number of those too. This MB24 I am building was supposed to be built from spare parts and a donor truck. Instead I cancelled a grocery order and ordered all new parts to build it. So all I did was add another kit to the list

My former boss used to get on me. After doing some math I could use a decent chunk on smokes or rc parts. Giving up lunch was a no brainer.

Math was always good for that! I used Math to build a Pro-Street car in my garage one time.

The HCG Slash 4x4 chassis is a bit longer than the Stampede 4x4, and is a direct swap with the longer drive shaft. The longest (15" WB) compatible chassis plate is on the Raptor R, but it is LCG.

I'm a bit sad to see them move on from the original Stampede style, as I like the taller more traditional Monster Truck look. The Hoss & new Stampede 4x4 are now more like a 4x4 Stadium Truck with larger tires. That's fine I guess. They certainly don't flip over as much.

I actually have 3 trucks at the moment that are all decedents of my old Stampede 4x4 VXL that I got back in 2011.
-The most direct decent of my original truck is my Slash 4x4 Monster Truck. I extended the truck using a Slash 4x4 HCG chassis, center drive-shaft, and Front Bumper, used custom body mounts to mount an E-Maxx body, and hub extensions to widen the wheel-base. 1/8th scale electronics and fully upgraded driveline to handle 4s. My goal with this truck was to see if I could make a larger truck that could bash better with 1/8th scale vehicles like the E-Revo without me having to actually invest in an 1/8th scale platform. The result has been very successful.
-I had upgraded my main truck so much, that I was able to build a 2nd truck using mostly spare parts. Eventually I upgraded almost every part on this truck also, but unlike my first truck I've kept it true to the Stampede 4x4 platform (the pre-Hoss style at least).
-I built a 3rd truck, again out of spare parts. This truck I've kept mostly stock (old version) aside from the electronics. A-Arms, and front-bumper. This is my loaner vehicle.

I don't really need a 4th Stampede but it would be interesting to see what would be involved in converting one of my older-model trucks to something resembling the newer model.

That's always the one you regret getting rid of. The one that got away so to speak. Besides he who dies with the most toys wins. If I ever get a mini crawler and hate it I'll keep you in mind.
