My freinds car, a kyoso alpha gp w/ a .12 engine has a problem. Whenever it starts it just revs up a bit and then stalls, if we put the throttle trim up it will eventually start and then the engine sounds very rich and stalls. This happens even if the needle valve is turned in quite a way. Does anyone know what is wrong here? Thanks

If it happens when the needle valve is turned in quite a ways, odds are it is too lean. The rev prior to death is the engine exhausting the fuel you primed the engine with...going leanest and then stalling.

My suggestion would be to reset the needles on the engine to factory pre-sets. Then give it a go.

We tried this but the engine won't sit at idle without stalling after about 3mins max...

The engine is not like a normal car engine. It will not sit at idle indefinitely. Three minutes is a good amount of time.

Ya, I would never expect mine to idle that long. does it still run good if u throttle up and go? It is probably ur needle settings but there could be a broken part in the engine.

how many gallons have u run through this little engine?

When i put the throttle up full it sounds choked and then clears if it doesn't stall. About 5-6 gallons i would say..

Typically with nitro if you dont change the throttle speed and the engine rev's up and dies, its too lean. If it dies without reving before like 10 seconds its too rich. Dont shoot for a long idle go for good performance.
