I've never been to one, are they more fun then big feilds?
 
Racing with others is always more fun, if you go there to have fun. Track vs field? Depends on the field. A flat field will be boring compared to an off-road track.

If so, then they are the wrong people to be around anyway. Most people at the tracks here are very nice and helpful to rookies.

And if you're planning on racing, ask for some track time before you start racing, so you can get used to the track, maybe see if there's somebody in the same class that will practice with you and help you out.
