I am wondering what servo you guys are using for the throttle/ brake? I am going with the Hitec 5645 digital servo for the steering in my SS, now I need to decide which one to get for the throttle.

NC - be careful with the digital servos for steering. Since they self center, if you are off a bit, it will constantly put a drain on your RX pack. I am currently running 645MGBB Hitec servos in all my vehicles, however - i recently just destroyed the steering servo in my trinity, and will probably go with teh Hitec 925. Same servo as the 645 but coreless, so the transit speed is much faster.

I use the JR 590 (I think) that came with my XS3.... I use the Hitec HS 645 for steering

I use the Futaba 9303 in my savage for steering, 9401 for throttle. Both are more than adequate, but I'm not sure if either is still in the Futaba lineup. The 9401 is a high speed coreless BB, lightning quick and plenty of torque.

The only servo I changed on the Savage was the steering servo. The stock break/throttle servo is sufficient to the task. IF you are not getting enough breaking action then you can adjust the tension on the break control arm, or do a break mod.

Just my two cents. BTW nice choice on the servo.

The SS does not come with servos. No radio or electrics, so I have to buy whichever servo I decide to go with. I am using the 5645 for the steering, a JS synth receiver for my XS3, now I just need to get a throttle servo. I guess I could just use one of the two that came with my XS3 for now.

I'm running Futaba S3305,124oz ballbearing with metal gears, works great and it was cheap!:tank:

i'm running a hitec 5645 servo for my steering with a 6 volt pack and it has unbelievable power. Nitroaddict, how do know if it is putting a drain on your rx pack? i don't hear any humming (with the engine off of course) coming from the servo with it on the ground.

NC, I used the HiTec HS-5625MG digital for throttle/brake duty on my MBX-5.

As for the phenomena that NA speaks to, I can honestly say that I have not witnessed that. I have run digital servos for steering duty for as long as I have owned my T-Maxx (nearly two years). I have only had to replace the four dry cells twice in that two year time frame. This does not mean that NA is wrong...just means that I have never seen that happen.
