i have a tmaxx 2.5
with 72 tooth
what will be if i change to smaller tooth??
any help would be great.
thanks.

Little less acceleration, more top end.

Got that backwards Mat. With less teeth on spur you get more accel and less top end. Say if you drop from a 72 tooth to a 70 tooth you will lose maybe 1 or 2mph and gain a bit more take off.

Are you sure about that....

Smaller spur and/or bigger clutch bell = More top speed/Less torque
Bigger spur and/or smaller clutch bell = Less top speed/More torque

The smaller the spur, the more times it can turn the trans with the same CB gearing. It's absolutely the opposite with the CB tooth count.

If you go from a 72 to a 66 on the spur you'll get some great top end, but a slightly slower take off. If you go to a 62 (I tried it) it will be a dog off the line and you'll need 9 miles to get it up to full speed. The 62 is for an E-Maxx.
66 with the stock bell worked great for my Maxx.

Ahh ok my bad I was wrong. I was thinking that way from dealing with motorcycle gearing. Down a couple teeth on front sprocket gives you more torque and less top end. Now I know it's opposite in these rigs. Sorry for my mistake guys.

I just installed a 36 tooth in place of my 40 tooth in the revo and it made a nice difference. I have a new 17 tooth clutch bell but the 2.5R hasnt got the power to gear it that much from 15 tooth on the 36 spur. So now I'm thinking of getting a bigger engine too. I'm really happy with the dynamite .19T on the tmaxx and thinking of getting the mach 2 .21 for the revo. Its only $129 from horizon. Then gearing it 17/36 and seeing what kinda speeds i get from that.
