what size spur gear and clutch bell is good for quick acceleration, i would still like a high top speed also but willing to loose a little top speed. I have a 72t spur gear with a 20t clutch bell any suggestions are appreciated.
 
gain 2 teeth on the CB (clutch bell). that should give you wheelies while retaining some top end
 
What engine do you have? 2.5? 2.5R? 3.3? Something else?

20/72 is a pretty good combo for the 2.5/2.5R. I'd actually gear down to 18/72, then you may actually get higher RPM's out of the engine which will give you better acceleration and top speed.
 
i wouldnt need to replace both of them? I also don't know that there is a slipper clutch on it, what do they look like?
 
nope only one and for ease of switching id do the CB because i think its a hell of a lot easier thing to do. what do you mean what does it look like
 
The slipper is part of the spur gear. The nut with a spring that holds the spur gear on is holding little slipper pegs that go through the spur gear and the ends of the pegs rub on smooth steel washers for friction. Installing 12 pegs instead of the stock 6 makes for a better/more durable slipper that is a bit more forgiving for adjusting.

And no, you don't need to switch both the spur and CB. Depending on what you want to do, I think you can range from 22-18 on the CB running a 72T spur. If you wanted to go larger than 22, then you would probably need to drop the spur down a few teeth to allow for proper mesh.
 
I am running a 3.3 but thinking about putting a picco .26, is that a pretty good motor or is there a better one.

I'm a newb only been into nitro for 2-3 months and love it so i might have some dumb questions. What are the best upgrades to do for the money?
 
Rpm arms, towers, and carriers. Fast lane machine bulkheads. and last but not least some kinda roll cage

Or, in lieu of a cage, the new era 3 point roll bar. Toughest roll bar out there.

Wish they had that when I had a maxx. The 3-point was good, but I always wished it was closer to the engine to protect it more from rear landings. This new one is perfect!

They use RPM's nylon for the body and are molded to use larger, more durable bearings.

If I had a maxx though, I'd go with RPM's all around along with the carriers and towers. However, RPM came out with a new setup for the rear of the maxx that ditches the turnbuckles, called True Track:

That would be what I"d get if I had a revo or maxx now. They also have a kit for the revo.
 
yeah thanks olds i forgot about the true trac. and the good thing with RPM is the garantie of lifetime replacement
 
if you change the CB to a 15T w/ 72T spur gear,do you have to change the spur gear and if so what #T spur gear does anybody say to use.

i had 66/20 with my 2.5. but the 3.3 wouldn't let me get that far over.
 
could weak transmitter batteries be causing chatter even if my servos arent moving
 
i don't think so. you mean chatter is in like a humming noise from the servos. if its humming your servos are strugling
 
no the transmission engages and it jumps like it is trying to take off and it seems to be idleing to high no matter where i set the idle screw. Got any ideas what it is?

i also can't find another 72t spur gear like the one that is on it. i think it is bent a little bit.
