my t maxx has a 72 tooth spur gear. i was wondering if a 12 tooth cluth bell would work with it. and what some good combos are?

I don't think they make a 12T bell for the gear pitch you need. The 12T bells are for 1/8 scale 1M pitch gears.

I think the smallest I ever ran on the maxx was an 18T. That required you to use really small bearings that fried in a short time if I remember correctly. It's been a few years since I've had a maxx.

What are you looking for? Top speed or low end torque? What kind of engine do you have? Whats the current gearing? What kind of tires are you running? I think a good combo is 18/70 with the 2.5... When changing the gear ratios, you will need to re-tune the 2-speed.

Yea, we need to know what performance gain you're looking for to make a suggestion.

Look at it this way More teeth on the clutchbell will give you more top end and less will give more torque. More teeth on the spurgear will give you more torque and less top end.

yea i think i will stay with the 72 tooth spur and get a 18 tooth clutch bell

No, it won't work. The savage bell is an 1/8th setup, and the pitch is completely different. What exactly do you want more of from your truck?

i wanted to put an 18 tooth cluthbell on my t maxx and had one from a savage 25 and just wanted to know if it would work before i bought a new one

Like olds said, it wont work. The reason is that the teeth and bell are a different size (the gear is 1.0m instead of 32p).
