alright i have a tmaxx 2.5 but i upgraded the engine to a 3.3 b/c of moter trouble. i had a r/c shop put the 3.3 in and they replaced my clutch said it was bad and ever since then i start it up runs fine but if i hit the gas it would'nt go so took it to em said clutch burnt up took it home fired it up and same exact problem would'nt go took it back again today and she tighted the spur gear and i got home ran fine for bout 30 min the i stopped it to put more gas in in it and noticed the spur gear was sheared very bad what do i do plaese any suggestions moter is brand new and i havent drove it but bout an hour

i don't know if this would change anything but did you replace the trans as well so its 3.3 that might change i don't know so don't count me on that anyone elso now. my other suggestion would be adjust the motor mount mine did the same thing strip the gear on flip over try the second first before you try the first one

It sounds to me like your hobby shop is ripping you off. If they replaced the clutch and adjusted it right it would not have burned up again so fast. It also sounds like they didn't set the mesh right between the motor and tranny when they put the motor on your truck, and that caused the spur gear to strip out.

sounds like you need to learn to set the mesh, it's not hard and you can't be any worse than the bimbos at the hobby shop. I would be embarrassed if I owned a shop and an employee of mine was putting out work like this and had it come back so many times.

+1 on that. If they don't repair the truck right the first time they can't charge you for it.

I run the steel, the only problem i have heard about it is if you dont set your mesh right, or if your motor shifts and binds up your clutch bell and spur, it could seriously jack your transmission up.

Steel also causes glitching with cheaper radio's.

Learning how to set mesh and getting a better engine mount will help you a lot. NewEra makes a nice billet mount for around $20 I think. Less likely to crack.

I ran a plastic spur with a big block 2.5 spur setup maxx with minimal issues... so I don't see the real necessity for a steel spur.

If you do go with a steel spur, make sure to mate it with a hardened bell as the stock bells won't last long.
