RC Driving Style
Is the spur gear on a stock T-maxx Trans supposed to freely rotate in both directions or it is supposed to freely rotate clockwise and have some resistance when rotating counterclockwise?
 
good question. on my t-maxx tranny, the spur gear moves freely clockwise but counterclockwise it moves the wheels backwards.but thats with the forward only conversion.

On a stock tranny, the spur gear should rotate freely in both directions. If you have only a little resistance, odds are the reverse or forward clutch might be slightly engaged (dependent on which direction you are getting the slight resistance).

How does the truck run?
 
it runs fine in reverse but when i shift into foward it just sitws there and revs up. It will only sit and rev even if i start it in foward too. I know that the gears are fine b/c I've looked inside the case.
 
maby while u had it apart, the shifting fork is screwed up or the shifting servo isnt set correctly. make sure that when it shifts it actually shifts. when i had my t-maxx most of the time it wouldnt even shift between forward and reverse, i had to hand shift it.

no the reason I opened it up was b/c it would not move foward. I think I'm just gonna get the FOC and sscrew reverse
 
You sure your idle isn't to high? If the RPM's of the engine are too high, it doesn't allow the trans to engage properly.

I'd get the FOC anyway. Reverse is over-rated... It makes for a smoother operating truck as well.
 
I'll check that I'm going to the LHS later today or tommorow so I'll bring it there for them to look at.
 
the reason it is not engaging into forward is PROBABLY the grub nuts on the push/pull rod that moves the shaft to shift. the problem is that the servo is not pushing or pulling the shaft in the tranny far enough to engage the shifter clutch in the forward slot. this happened to me a while back and bugged the piss out of me so i figured it out..lol and a month later i got the FOC
