I decided since my T-Maxx 3.3 sees no road time i'd spool the front and rear.
I'm also adding aluminum hexes because the stocks are so prone to stripping.

Anybody see a problem with running this?

pshhh, like anybody turns these days, haha.

i posted this to see the rplys, I've ran locked diffs for a while and no problems but everyone seems to bash spools for some reason.

i'm here to dispell those myths!

Kool , so will I then. I know on my Isuzu rig thats a real mudder it sucked sometimes

did you buy them or make them spools? A 4x4 truck you just can weld up the diff.?

Spools were intended for more of "pulling" type events. I have also read that the spools are great for bashers that run on loose sand but I have no real opinion on that. From what I can tell, it would be great on straight drag races anything more would not be good for regular bashing or racing.

I didn't have a spool in my stampede but I did lock the rear diff...after eating through several U joints I went back to an open diff...so I would suggest upgrading all of your shafts and U joints to something thats a lil less prone to breaking...

I like the locked rear in my Savage. On some surfaces it does make turning difficult, especially grass. On the track I like it because I can kick the back around on tight corners where the Savage turning radius is bit too big.
I haven't tried the front, I think turning would be more difficult. I don't think it would help much except as noted by jon2 for pulling and drag racing.

The spool diff. sounds great. Personal you should really just do the rear. That way u can have good steering. If u lock the front up ur steering will really suck. I have a t-maxx .15 that I just bought and I'm going to do the rear myself. It will give u better off the line starts and a little bit more speed.

if you run off road only try locking the front only...you get alot more pull out of corners with alot less rear push.....I'd seal teh rear diff and addd some diff oil to stiffen it up a little.....great for racing but you WILL eventually eat the driveline......I ran this setup for a year and trust me it will kill other components......drive shafts seem to be the big one.....upgrade to the newer 3.3 axles if you havent yet......

it's a 3.3 maxx.
yeah turning sucks on anything but hard dirt with a loose top but thats all i drive on so its fine.
with the the front and rear locked it loves to take flat track style turns.
i never get stuck really, if one wheel is spinning they all are.

plus it stops on a dime!

oh yeah and it wheelies straight everytime instead on unloading to one side.

I know it can be a fun setup but wait til you get it on a technical track...still fun but I'd lap you a dozen times.....try different setups and see what you like.....seeing what setups work is the fun part IMO

haha yeah dude, if there is a single turn in the track you'll win.

this is my fourth t-maxx and my 13th nitro car, i've played with them a good bit but since i have a race revo and a big block t-maxx i figured a locked 4 wheel drive maxx would be a good option when i ask the question what truck will i play with today
