Split the tank right down the middle!

Today I was out back running with another savage and havin' a blast! Right up to the point were I said "Hey... Watch this", we all know how this is going to end right? lol.

I launched the truck up the big ass ramp we made but the truck darted at the last second and I hit the ramp wrong, it went up about 3-4ft and landed right on its top. Broke the fuel cell right down the middle, not just a crack... but split it into 2 halves! It also knocked the throttle linkage off. It didnt look like the cell took a direct hit though so I'm guessing a tank cover plate won't help? If others have used it and its helped I think I'll get one just in case.

I guess I should be careful with mine. My LHS doesn't stock anything by HPI and a breakage means that I would have to wait 2 weeks to get parts from the US.

Anyways, good thing your Savage didn't catch fire.

Thats crazy! Right down the middle! I've broken two tanks on my savage but they were just cracks, splitting it in half is pretty crazy!

Must have hit pretty hard... My brother had a cracked tank with he bought his Savage but our LHS orders parts with no shipping fees so we ordered another one and had it in 3 days.They have been carrying alot mroe parts for HPI lately.

I'm sure it must have been cracked before and this hit just finished it off. I called the LHS and its in stock... I'll pick up 2 when I go (just in case)

Every think of them metal plates I have seen people put on theirs?Not sure what they would be called.Or if they could have helped.

Aren't they called tank gaurds?

I run a buggy tank on my savage. I've wiped out a lot... I suck at driving.

And it's still perfect.
