where have you triied the failsafes on an airplane or a car? if you say they work i will definitely get me one of those cheap failsafes....as soon as the wife grants me access to the credit card hehehe. your duratrax is a name brand one, i'm sure it costs more but if it does its job well then I'm sure its very much worth it.

i tested it with my other transmiter and reciever (my original revo radio)...had it hooked up to a 4 AA cell pack ( with low charge) and made the servos work .....when the voltage got to low ...the failsafe kicked in

yes duratrax does cost more ...was around 20$

The way I see it is even the good ones are $20-$30 dollars
Its pretty cheap insurance for you rig..

You'll need a voltage regulator to run 2s into the receiver. What about a 6.6 life pack?

Good suggestion, I definitely dont want to fry a good working receiver with my reckless action of plugging the lipo straight to the spektrum AR6100. This sunday afternoon, I spent some bashing with the Tmaxx at the nearest school ground, a good walking distance from our apartment, and I'm surprised the AA nimh receiver battery lasted until I ran out of fuel for 30 to 45 minutes. I made about 2 or 3 full tank refills. I'm happy with that. It gave me a chance to make necessary adjustments to the throttle trim. Since this is my first powerful nitro engine. I just sold the Tmaxx with the TRX .15 yesterday, I'm down with just 1 nitro engine truck. In my opinion, I was giving the truck some punishment by driving hard such as lots of zigzag driving, figure of 8's. Sliding at pebble stones. Small jumps like a foot and a half jump. To some that might be boring, but for a newbie that is an adrenaline rush. As expected, some damage was attained, as expected from a new reckless driver hehehe. Damaged the rear bumper after I jumped a foot high and the truck started to roll. And when I was on my last tank of fuel, I damaged the spur gear. I knew the spur gear was too tight, it's a good thing those are just cheap parts. I zip tied a bike light at the rear shock tower just for the heck of it. I may need to seal the engine because I notice it will stall, sometimes it will go full throttle without a problem but only if I ease up on the throttle slowly to pickup speed. I will look for the forum on how to seal the engine. Oh just to mention, I am now using Byron's 15% nitro 18% oil, I'm happy with it, although I did notice a performance decrease. Before I used 20% blue thunder fuel and the truck will do wheelie, now using the 15% it wont do a wheelie, but that's okay for my bashing needs. I'm a happy camper.
Overall, it was a fun day for me.
