I've maxed out my jato 2.5 for top speed gearing wise...24/54 gearing. Aside from running taller tires is there anything I can do to get more out of it? It flies without a doubt but I want more.

People are putting the Revo gears on the Jato, 20/40 (I think), most have the 3.3 so I'm not sure if the 2.5 can handle it. What nitro % are you running? You could also get a better pipe and filter. Other than that you are looking at new engines.

I've got plenty of power with current gearing...still great out of the hole. To switch to revo gears do I just need spur and cb or other parts too?

Thanks. Anyone else care to chime in? Has anyone converted to revo gears?

Most running the revo gears on the jato due it because the revo gearing is mod 1 and stronger then the stock mod.8 gears. You can gain a little speed with the revo gears but probably not much more than 5-7 mph without modifying the chassis to fit larger clutchbells/spurs.
You will get to a point very quickly with just the 2.5 that a taller gear will just result in slower top speed because the engine just can't produce enough torque to pull the gear.

^ snook has a great point. The torque drops off at a point.

otherwise the 2.5 will show big gains from a mild port job to the sleeve. its a good engine for a rookie port job. do a little homework.

Thanks snook...I dont mind modding one bit, built my maxx from the ground up and had to make a bunch of stuff.

I've ported and polished the sleeve and crank in my 3.3, but if it comes to not having the power I'll just drop a bigger engine in.
