spark plug

hi,
i went to change my spark plug and when i was putting it back in the thread went would this be the thread on the head or on the spark plug is this a pricey replacment ??

Its could be the button/head. If so, yes its a little pricing. If it is just the glow plug the no, only a few bucks. When you go to attempt to put the new plug in, put a piece of fuel tubing over the top of it to help get it started. Just dangle the plug down there from the fuel tubing and turn the fuel tubing. Works like a champ.

If it never threads up or just keeps spinning freely, then you know its the button/thread. That would suck

If you find it to be the threads in the head, make sure you flush out the crankcase with some cleaner before installing a new head. I did the same thing, and when I removed the old head I found metal filings from the stripped threads sitting on the piston head... That can be bad news if undetected...

sweet tip. yet another use for fuel tubing!

man, if you stripped the threads out the head, that's going to suck. You're going to need a new head or button. did you try to contact you local hobby shop (LHS) for help?

That was the first thing I screwed up on a truck. Your glow plug is steel. Your heat sink/head is aluminum. You can be sure it won't be the plug that takes the damage. Here's a glowplug tool.

Also, watch that you don't have all kinds of dirt in the head when you put in the new plug. I always turn the truck / car upside down when I remove and install a plug so any loose dirt falls away from the engine rather than down into the cylinder.

good call... I always douche with WD-40 before I pull a plug.
