hey guys its been a long time off. I've got some simple questions about the hpi 5b ss
-how reliable is the 26cc fuelie engine, i do own shindaiwa trimmers and i am in love with there engines, could i expect the same reliability and performance from these as i do from my shindaiwas?
-are these engines the same? what i mean is could i treat it just like another 2 stroke, can i leave gas in it, not tune it(well at least not tune it as often as a nitro) clean the air filter ever few day/ weeks instead of every hour of use?
-how durable is the buggy itself? since the thing is gonna be like 950$ delivered should i order any special parts for it
-are they easy to bottom out, i know that ground clearance is about 3 inches
please help me out guys any responses or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! thanks:D

I had a 5b with the 23cc motor. It was a blast. One of the funnest RC's that i have ever owned. If i had the room, i would have another one in a heart beat. The shocks are good enough to keep it basicly as stable as a true 1:1 buggy. I never bottomed out mine, and bashed the hell out of it. You can leave gas in it, tune it once, and forget it. Its basicly a weedeater motor. Virtually maintnance free. Only thing you should do is clean your filter every few tanks, and charge up your batteries.

alright thanks man, big help i was considering buying one in the spring or summer but now that i know that its basically a weed whacker engine i feel a lot better about buying one thanks again!

I've had several engine combos . pipes etc keep the air filter clean and use a good oil my stock ss 26cc has way too many hrs on it and still runs great!!!

the 26 is very strong , like posted above KEEP that filter clean and well oiled, and that TOP end in that 26 will last a long time..

I have a 5B with the stock 23cc engine and it rips. I got mine from another member here and it is still a beast. It has taken a severe beating and I've only had to replace the shell.

Once you go Gas, you'll never look back... No tuning and just a blast to be able to run around on a tank for a half an hour...

ImBroken, you could not be more correct! i got the 5T and i absolutely love it, now when i see nitros or look at my electrics i just giggle and say that looks like a toy not an r/c car. i am more than positive this will not be my last baja!
