Hi all,
First of all thankyou for reading this and any thoughts or help will be very appreciated. I know very little about nitro cars, but was given one a year ago by my brother who had spent a fortune.
I only use it once and couldnt really get to grips with it, 2 children under 5 and a girlfriend who thinks I play with my eal car too much would not let me enjoy the nitro car like someone should so I have recently sold it on ebay. The car was fine when I used it the once and it has been in storage for the last 6 months...ish. I cleaned the car up before posting and since the buyer has received it I have been unindated by compliants from him about the car and this has now escalated to a payla claim.
There are 2 faults that the buyer is complaining of and my knowledge is limited but from sme basic surfing on here and the web in general I do not think these are probelms, more naivity of the car.

Fault 1. Car runs away from the buyer when started.

I have advised to change the bateries in the controller as been stored for a while anyway, but also when I used it the forwards/backwards controller stick was central and so the car accelerated on idle, there is a settig on the controler to hold the stick half way back therefore apllying the brakes. This was then fine for me.

Fault 2. The car stalls after about 45 seconds.

As the car is running away on the buyer I can only assume that this is with the 4 wheels off the floor as otherwise if the above is still hapening after 45 seconds the car would be half a mile away and you would be glad it had stalled!! I have read that this is correct at idle as the combustion chamber fills up with fuel on idleto help with cooling, and that 30 - 60 seconds later the car will stall and this is a good indication of the car runnig lean or rich.

The buyer is also refusing to do any tuning to the car at all and my understaning is that these cars need constant tuning as they have so many different things that efect the engine, even down to the ambient temperature.

As I said your thoughts and comments will be very helpful including any inks I could offer the buyer to help him learn how to use the car he has.

Many thanks
Nic

Answer #1. ABSOLUTELY replace ALL the batteries in the transmitter as well as the receiver.
Turn the car on and make sure the servos operate the way they are supposed to. Start walking away from it and have someone looking at the car as you keep moving the controls to range test it.
When all of that is done, we'll get to #2. First things first.

Did you say that it was being sold as is? If so, remind him of that. It's not your responsibility to help him as long as you said "as is". I know, he can give you neg feedback, but so can you!! :D

tell the guy to go to this forum and read, read, and read some more. he will figure it out on his own. i learned so much from this forum. and all rc cars should be sold as is.

All RC's you put on ebay should have the words:

Due to the nature of the hobby, item is sold AS IS.

This worked out in my favor however, I bought a tmaxx that the owner couldn't quite figure out.

Paid 200 for it, pretty much brand new. He was on the right track...He read that you should tighten down all screws on the truck before running it. The HSN housing isn't really one of them though. New carb body and it was good to go.... :)

Sounds like the buyer had absolutely no clue about nitro RC.

Tell him/her that they should learn about the hobby and the engines etc. before trying to run the car again.
