Bit the bullet, sold my NR and got a OS 15CV-X. Going to install tonight after work and will run it in tomorrow with 16% nitro. Any tips will be good! Thanks guys!

Read the directions! That is the most importain information you will read regarding breakin. Tripple check your carb settings. Make sure you have a few extra glow plugs on hand just incase. If this is a PS engine go easy on the pull starter. Since the engine has a really high compression it is easy to destroy the pull starter. I almost did that on my engine for my NTC3. If your sure the carb settings are correct, and the engine is getting fuel try changing the glow plug. Why do you plan on breaking in with 16%?

New O.S.

16% nitro is what i intend to run the engine on, why? What about the V shaped cooling head, should I get a CNC machined one instead?

An aftermarket cooling head would provide much better cooling than the squared V slotted head. If you do use the stock head it is common pratice to turn the head (if neccesary) so that the fins run front to back. This allows for better air flow through the head fins. I've had three engines, over the years, with the OS CV squared heads and all had the heads replaced with aftermarket. Even the relatively inexspensive MIP head is better than the stock one. Actually, a head with no colored finish cools better than a colored one but most have some sort of anodizing. Never paint or coat a head, it will hold heat. Just take your time and break it in per instructions. Rich is GOOD for breakin and even worth a few glow plugs in need be but I've not had a problem with glow plugs during breakins. Good luck with your new engine.

I replaced that head on my OS with the Hardcore Mutant head, it dropped my running temps by 60+ degrees over the stock head. Its a great head but a little expensive, around $45-$50, but well worth it imo.

Also as far as 16%, why? 20% is what I and almost everyone else here runs. It is more readily available, and will provide more power than the 16%.

Read the instructions thoroughly and follow them to a t, and that engine will be a great mill. Also as Larry mentioned make sure you have a few extra plugs on hand, when you start your break in, you most likely will need them. I use OS3 plugs in my OS and they have been great.

What vehicle is this mill going in?

Agreed. 20% seems to be the most common nitro precentage used. It is a good balance between power, performance and cost. From what I have seen with my other gas cars/trucks, over the years, is that below 20% just doesn't seem to cut it as well and the cost difference is minimal. What fuel comes in 16%? I've only ever seen such as 10%, 15%, 20%, ect.

he lives in South Africa, Larry.

16% can be found in Byron Originals brand fuel

Sorry guys, whent to another LHS and they have 20% gonna try it this weekend! whooooohoooooo!

Dont use 30%. It isnt that big of a diffrence considering how fast your piston is gonna lose its compression. Kwong...how long does one of your engines last on 30%? 20% seems just fine imo.
